Join the HealthFirst CommunityWe are seeking a Patient Service Representative to join our team of mission-minded healthcare professionals at HealthFirst Family Care Center, a Certified Great Place to Work.About the PositionThis role provides assistance for new and existing patients, ensuring they are directed to the correct department that can assist with their needs.Duties and Responsibilities:Welcome and greet all patients and visitors in person or over the phone.Answer the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette within 3 rings.Responsible for keeping the reception, waiting area, and work area clean and organized.Register new patients and update existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information. Scan insurance cards and conduct eligibility checks annually.Verify address, phone number, and insurance information at each check-in.Verify patient consents are up-to-date and have patients complete new forms annually.Facilitate patient flow by notifying providers of patients' arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff.Maintain utilization of provider schedules by scheduling appointments, managing cancellation lists, and addressing no-shows. Reschedule appointments as needed due to vacations or meeting schedules.Respond to inquiries from patients, prospective patients, and visitors in a courteous manner, such as prescription pick-ups.Collect patient co-payment and discount program fees. Daily balance cash box and reconcile forms.Process daily information from interoffice delivery and fax machines.Assist patients or customers with pick-up of prescriptions or other requests (e.g., medical records, paperwork).Confirm Nurse Schedules and other staff members as needed.Check Engage (our online confirmation call system) for confirmation responses.Protect patient confidentiality by securing protected health information and logging off computers before leaving them unattended.Cross-train in a minimum of one other job function or position within HealthFirst.Maintain personal desktop, log no-show appointments, check patients in and out of appointments, monitor voicemails, return calls, verify insurance information, process and maintain medical record requests, and maintain patient appointment wait lists for all providers.Scan HIPAA documents into patients' charts and perform other duties as assigned.Organizational ExpectationsSupport the Mission of HealthFirst.Interact with people from various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds in a respectful and dignified manner.Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and the public.Promote a positive work environment.Perform job duties and responsibilities in a manner reflecting the highest ethical and professional standards of conduct and performance.Present a professional, businesslike image to patients, visitors, and the public.Treat confidential information with respect and care, whether oral, written, or electronic.Work in a safe and responsible manner.RequirementsEducation/Experience: High school diploma required; two years' medical office experience desired.Job Type: Full-time.Benefits:401(k)401(k) matchingAD&D insuranceDental insuranceDisability insuranceEmployee assistance programFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceMedical Specialty: Primary Care.Schedule: 5x8, 8-hour shift, day shift, Monday to Friday, no weekends.LocationIn-person at HealthFirst Family Care Center.
