The College of Dentistry is looking for an Patient Services Associate II to serve in the department of Clinical Affairs.? What you need to know

Proposed Salary: $19.56 hourly

Work Schedule/Location: This is an on-site role with a typical schedule of Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm.

Required Education and Experience:

* High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Three years of related experience in a general office setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of standard office protocol and the use of standard office equipment. Knowledge of the use of a multiline phone system.

* Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

* Awareness of and adherence to (HIPAA) regulations and State laws pertaining to health care information and records.

Essential Duties/Tasks:

Front Desk Responsibilities

* Welcomes and checks in patients, assisting them with their questions and needs.

* Schedules patients' appointments (by phone and in person) and confirms appointments by making reminder calls.

* Verifies patients' insurance eligibility and benefits and obtains referrals and/or authorizations required for payment.

* Collects and documents co-pays and payments in electronic medical records.

* Balances monies received and creates a report for designated personnel.

* Investigates and researches customer complaints and participates in resolving problems.

Administrative Responsibilities

* Assists with records management and document retention.

* Compiles data to prepare correspondence, reports, or other documents in accordance with cash handling policies for further evaluation.

* Assists with maintaining patient financial accounts and issues patient refunds, when necessary, in accordance with procedures.

Staff Coordination

* Assists with organizing and distributing personnel work schedules for assigned area to ensure coverage of front desk areas.

* Serves as an information resource for the unit and applies policies and procedures when necessary.

* Acts as a liaison between assigned area and other units.

* May assist with training and advising support staff.
