UPMC Community Medicine Incorporated is seeking Limited Casual Patient Services Representatives (PSR) to support local practices within Pittsburgh and surrounding areas! This position is Monday through Friday (no weekends, no evenings) and will require a minimum of 10 hours a week with the option to work up to 40 hours.The Patient Services Representatives will assist patients with check in and check out processes, including various clerical and organizational tasks, ensuring patient satisfaction.This position provides the opportunity to work in various specialty UPMC practices and allows individuals a greater chance to learn, expand on electronic medical record (Epic) and front office, patient related workflows.Are you interested in expanding your administrative skillset? Provides follow-up to unresolved patient questions or needs to ensure the appropriate continuity of care.Assist with administrative duties in the office including but not limited to scanning of medical records and faxingGuide patient through use of self-arrival technology or check-in patient at desk depending on patient preferenceSchedule or connect patient to resources to schedule for ancillary services at checkoutUnderstands the principles of service recovery and is both empowered and responsible for taking appropriate action to recover from service that does not meet the expectation of the UPMC Experience.Assist patients in education of financial responsibility and connect them to advocacy resources as neededObtain signature of patient or family member for consent to treatment and financial responsibility following the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules and regulationsConfirm/verify insurance benefits with the appropriate carrier via online verification systems or telephone inquiriesPromote MyUPMC patient portal and assist patients in registration when applicableCollect copayments and any other applicable patient payments at the point of serviceProvide a warm greeting for all patientsRegister patients in Biometrics (fingerprint recognition) program and explain benefitsConfirm and/or update patient registration information at checkoutAppropriately distribute / triage phone calls to other areas and / or clinical providersSchedule follow-up appointments within the practice at checkoutCompletion of high school graduate or equivalent is required.Experience with personal computer based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills are preferred.Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function is preferred.Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems is preferred.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Act 34UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/VeteranUPMC has a Center for Engagement and Inclusion that is charged with executing leading-edge and next-generation diversity strategies to advance the organization's diversity management capability and its national presence as a diversity leader.
