Job Description :
The Patient Services Representative is responsible for answering and routing calls appropriately, and providing routine information to the general public in a professional, efficient, and pleasant manner. Individuals in this role also will schedule, reschedule and cancel appointments for patients.Type: Full-Time, Monday-FridayLocation: Anderson, IN Responsibilities:
  • Answers, evaluates and routes incoming calls appropriately and timely.
  • Schedules accurate appointments utilizing event codes and accurately utilizing auto search scheduling.
  • Responds to general public, providing general clinic information.
  • Answers and responds to emergency calls according to established procedures.
  • Communicate information with answering service and physician offices and understands and communicates physician call schedule.
  • Places a high priority on and maintains strict confidentiality in all situations.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains applicable professional affiliations and certifications as required.
  • Attends and participates in required organizational meetings and committees as requested.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Certification/License Requirements:Minimum high school diploma or GED required. At least six months of previous telephone operations experience, ideally in a clinic setting, is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Excellent computer and customer service skills. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:Standard work environment is an office setting. Work requires sitting for long periods of time. Position requires viewing and typing on a computer for long periods. Occasionally bending, lifting, and reaching required to deal with files, paper, supplies, etc., including lifting up to 25 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment (computer, telephone, copier, etc.) regularly. Vision must be correctable to 20/20. Hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts and to interact directly with employees. Regularly interacts with staff, physicians, business associates, and the public, which may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Work may be stressful at times.
