- Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
- Position is responsible for transporting patients in all departments of the hospital, assisting with patient care and procedures.

- Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Licensure/Certification
- Required: American Heart Association BLS
- Experience
- Preferred: Some hospital and / or patient care experience. Basic computer skills
- Essential Responsibilities
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and reports suspected violations
- Demonstrates knowledge of hospital approved patient identifications procedures.
- Communicates pertinent information and unfinished tasks to co-workers prior to breaks, lunches and end of shift to ensure continuity of workflow.
- Provides safe and efficient transfer of patients.
- Provides safe patient environment at all times:
- Stays with patient, who may be in danger of falling and hurting themselves
- Correctly identifies patient by use of armband.
- Transports patients in a safe / comfortable manner to and from Department / Floors when necessary, reporting any changes that may occur during transport. (SBAR)
- Assists Technologists/Nursing staff with patient procedures as assigned.
- Assists Nursing staff/Technologists with moving patients when necessary.
- Transports deceased patients to the morgue.
- Responds and assists to Code Blue.
- Notifies patients RN prior to transport and upon return.
- Obtains copy of E.D. orders for Tech's prior to exam when applicable.
- Notifies Nurse if patient needs taken off or put on monitor during E.D. transport
- Operates patient support equipment, such as: oxygen tanks(E tanks), Hovermats, and ergo-slide.
- Maintains sanitizing gurneys and keeping them stocked.
- Helps with Lab specimens when needed. Routinely transports specimens from surgery to Lab.
- Escorts visitors, patient's families to waiting areas, cafeteria, and etc.
- Performs dispatch duties as needed.
- Stocks O2 / E tanks throughout the hospital.
- Demonstrates good body mechanics moving, lifting and transporting patients.
- Provides patient observation at the discretion of a nurse and communicates observations of patient condition changes to nurse.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
