- Safety Compliance: Follow all processes and procedures outlined in the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Report any deviations to management promptly.
- Machine Operation: Set up and operate various machine tools, including milling machines, lathes, drill presses, sanders, and saws.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints or drawings for casting parts or creating patterns. Calculate dimensions and plan operational sequences.
- Quality Verification: Use measuring instruments (calipers, scales, micrometers) to ensure patterns and core box dimensions meet specifications.
- Pattern Creation: Craft master patterns, working patterns, or core boxes based on instructions.
- Assembly and Repair: Assemble pattern sections using hand tools, bolts, screws, or glue. Repair and rework wooden core boxes.
- Layout and Drawing: Scribe patterns onto material using compasses, protractors, rulers, and other tools.
- Finishing Work: Sand and finish patterns using emery cloths, files, scrapers, and power grinders.
- Follow Blocks: Construct follow blocks if needed for molding master patterns.
- Pattern Mounting: Mount and gate working patterns as instructed.
- Identification: Mark identification numbers or symbols on patterns or templates.
- Workstation Maintenance: Maintain a neat and orderly workstation.
Qualifications: Foundry Pattern Maker
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associates degree in a technical field or vocational training preferred.
- Three to five years of related on-the-job experience.
- Must provide personal tools not provided by the company.
