Payment Poster- Long Island, Ronkonkoma

Full-Time

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Provide various support services within the billing department. This position involves maintaining complete, timely and accurate documentation of all approvals and denials. Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOB's), balancing insurance and patient payments; perform adjustments and credits as needed. Use of online databases and other resources to document appropriate recommendations.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Posts payments and adjustments; ensures all payments and adjustments are balanced on a daily basis.
  • Electronic Remittance Summary posting.
  • Audits Electronic Remittance Summary reports.
  • Reviews Explanation of Benefits to assure proper payment and adjustment posting.
  • Verifies checks against totals on summary transmittals
  • Understands of Managed Care (contracts).
  • Sorts mail and processes requests for information; refers claim resolution issues to appropriate area.
  • Resolves any un-postable deposits; enters and processes refunds.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE:

  • Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS codes, and Modifiers
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of insurance terminology, capitation, and fee for service billing.
  • Knowledge of various insurance company requirements for filing insurance claims.

QUALIFICATIONS; REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, with some college preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years experience in medical billing procedures including registration, charge entry, payment posting, and claim preparation.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires ability to work independently.

Involves standing, sitting and walking.

Requires normal vision and hearing.

Normal office environment.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of insurance terminology such as CPT codes, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers a plus.
  • Ability to navigate multiple systems, websites and screens concurrently

QUALIFICATIONS; REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, with some college preferred.
  • Experience: (preferred) Minimum of one years experience in a medical billing setting with familiarity of procedures such as registration, charge entry, payment posting, and/or claim preparation.

Pay Range - Minimum: USD $30.00/Hr. Pay Range - Maximum: USD $22.80/Hr.
