Position Summary: The Payment Posting Specialist is accountable directly to the Billing Lead. This position is responsible for performing accurate and timely cash posting and balancing cash receipts. In addition, the payment posting specialist will maintain and reviews suspend report and ensure that payments are resolved timely. The pay rate for this position ranges between $23.07 - $25.48 per hour and the offer amount is determined by the candidate's education, qualifications, and experience .   • Reviews daily health insurance explanation of benefits to determine proper application of payments and contractual adjustments. Posts daily manual insurance payments and corrects all edits. Applies approved discounts and adjustments as needed. Reconciles all payments received manually and/or by electronic transfer daily in eCW. Review and post interest, forward balances, and overpayment recoveries on remits and to interest/suspend report.
  • Resolves discrepancies and balances all batches within 2-3 business days of receiving batches in first-in, first-out (FIFO) order.
  • Analyzes payer reimbursement daily against payments received to ensure reimbursement is according to contract fee schedules and APM rates. Continually stay updated with state and federal contracts.
  • Work on resolving payments in suspend daily, old and current reports. Follow up on unposted payments from previous months weekly until posted. Follow up daily on the Posting - Sent to Email status in eCW to resolve posting issues on claims. Work weekly unposted report for the billing department from 10/1/2016 - Current.
  • Complete soft close weekly to reconcile payments received from accounting to what was posted. Closes out month end close no later than 3 business days after the month end. Ensures there are no remaining unidentified payments as needed.
  • Open tickets in Waystar for missing remits and other issues when needed. Contact insurance with questions regarding remits and payments.
  • Answers calls professionally via Five9 and collects patient payments on a rotating schedule (a full week or as a back-up to another team member). Credit card payments are processed through Pay Trace and posted into eClinicalWorks (eCW) during the same day. Voicemails should be reviewed the same day and returned within 24 hours.
  • Handles sensitive information with care and discretion to ensure confidentiality.
  • Attends departmental and organization wide meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned*.
Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma required. Some college studies or Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of high-volume medical payment posting experience required.
  • Knowledge of DC Medicaid and Managed Care payer's payment posting and denial codes.
  • Working knowledge of Clearing Houses and Insurance Websites preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters, including Patient Health Information and employee data.
  • Highly organized and able to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to follow instructions, prioritizes, and simultaneously manages all daily tasks.
  • Ability to think critically and resolve accounts with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to learn and apply new concepts, applications, and processes that may be implemented to improve the efficiency of cash application.

Remote: A majority of the position may be able to work remotely, but employees will be required to report to the office a minimum of twice per month.
