Job DetailsJob Location Sunset Hills Campus - St Louis, MO Position Type Full Time DescriptionSummary:The Payroll Clerk will audit timesheets to ensure accurate processing and recording of Faith Church payroll and provide timely and accurate financial reporting. This role will also serve as a backup to Faith Academy payroll. As a member of the Accounting team, this role will also manage other AR responsibilities. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Payroll:
  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees' hourly rates, salaries, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, and other information.
  • Maintain PTO accruals.
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
  • Calculates manual Checks for direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
  • Bi-weekly Review and back-up for Faith Academy Payroll. Payrolls occur on opposite weeks.
  • Communicates weekly funding requests to Director of Accounting.
  • Allocates salaries and benefits across various campuses for specialized payroll reporting.
  • Prepares and records bi-weekly journal entries to general ledger for 3 payrolls, 2 entities
  • Verifies bi-weekly reports and communicates any discrepancies with Director of Accounting.
  • Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
  • Manages workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Communicates with HR to make necessary changes/updates to employee records.
  • Understands proper taxation of employer paid benefits.
  • Understands applications for housing allowance and reimbursable moving expenses.
  • Processes garnishment calculations and compliance.
  • Responds to employee requests as needed.
  • Assists with various other special requests/reports as needed.
  • Be open to cross training in other areas of accounting.
AR duties:
  • Verification of weekly cash deposits
  • Scanning of checks to bank
  • Preparation of online income reports
  • Preparation of weekly In-House income entries
  • Reconciliation of weekly income entries including online income
  • Review, posting and reconciliation of weekly income entries for Faith Academy
  • Populating Import Templates as time allows
  • Scanning docs as time allows
  • General Ledger Account analysis, research and reconciliation, monthly
  • Other duties as assigned by Accounting Director

  • Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment (routinely uses standard office equipment). Physical Demands Office time is mostly a sedentary role (stationary at desk and working on a computer). Position Type and Expected Hours of Work The weekly schedule will include 40-45 hours per week and will be the same every week. These hours can/will fluctuate. Sunday: Off Monday: 9:00AM - 5:00PM Tuesday: 9:00AM - 5:00PM Wednesday: 9:00AM - 5:00PM Thursday: 9:00AM - 5:00PM Friday: 9:00AM - 5:00PM Saturday: Off Travel Campus to campus local travel may be expected for this position. Required Education and Experience
  • Level of experience: Intermediate (practical application)
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least six months of experience in payroll
  • Preferred Education and Experience
  • Business or Accounting degree
