The Payroll Administrator performs a wide variety of timekeeping and payroll processing activities, including verifying wage and overtime calculations, reviewing deductions, processing pay requests and corrections, garnishment administration, and answering employee questions regarding payroll taxes, deductions and policies.The Payroll Administrator will consistently demonstrate support of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab statement of Vision, Mission and Core Values by striving for excellence, contributing to the team efforts and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the institute.The Payroll Administrator will demonstrate Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Core Attributes: Communication, Accountability, Flexibility/Adaptability, Judgment/Problem Solving, Customer Service and Core Values (Hope, Compassion, Discovery, Collaboration, and Commitment to Excellence) while fulfilling job duties.Job DescriptionThe Payroll Administrator:Using UKG Pro Timekeeping, is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of bi-weekly payroll according to policy, procedures, and regulations. Review timecards, process, calculate, and post a variety of payroll actions including retroactive payments, benefit payments, wage assignments and garnishments. Prepare, balance, and correct payroll reports.Audits and enters manual payments and create/schedule/ run all payroll validation reports in both payroll systems ensuring appropriate workflow and approvals are completed.Processes payroll related filings and reporting such as Workers Compensation, quarterly and annual tax filing, and 401(k) and 403(b) audits.Updates and maintains the UKG Pro Timekeeping system. Provides training to employees and managers regarding time and attendance processes and expectations when needed.Assists with auditing various payroll areas such as timekeeping records.Research and resolve questions from employees and management as they relate to the processing of payroll information such as payroll corrections, direct deposit accounts, payroll taxes, deductions and policies.Communicates with Human Resources department to ensure the integrity of payroll data related to new hires, terminations, transfers rate changes, retroactive payments, incentive payments, tuition reimbursement payment, and employment verifications.Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files, including manual checks and reconciliation of payroll accounts.Process manual checks when required. Corresponds with the Finance department to record and print on demand checks and wires.Cross-Trained to perform additional responsibilities in the Finance Department.Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.Reporting RelationshipsReports directly to the Payroll ManagerKnowledge, Skills & Abilities RequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor\'s degree preferred.Knowledge of Workday Payroll or UKG Pro systems is preferred.Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.Demonstrated ability to read, write and perform calculations to prepare various forms, to maintain records, to monitor policy compliance, and to perform calculations.Familiarity with Federal, State, & FICA payroll laws as applicable payroll policies and procedures as well as forms and reports at a level generally acquired during three to five years of experience and on the job training.Analytical ability to resolve employee payroll problems by reviewing records and reports, by identifying errors, and by correcting errors.Interpersonal skills sufficient to handle employee complaints and to explain payroll policies and procedures to all levels of hospital personnel, which includes confidential information.Ability to effectively use personal computer and working knowledge of spreadsheet applications to perform data entry and analysis.Ability to establish and meet deadlines while managing multiple prioritiesAbility to identify and implement opportunities for continuous quality improve
