POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interprets and applies all university policies and procedures that relate to payroll production
- Interprets federal, state and local tax updates, makes required application and applies them correctly.
- Oversees benefit deduction requests and/or retroactive pay processes; provides excellent customer service to faculty and staff providing first line resolution and response or following up until resolution is accomplished.
- Assist with the resolution of individual and group pay issues such as union dues, contracts, etc. and how they apply to production cycles. Interacts with agencies as needed. Provides findings to manager.
- Work alongside the Payroll Specialist in reviewing, updating and signing off of time-cards in accordance with established deadlines. Including but not limited to analytical review, applying proper pay codes, correcting errors, and interacting directly with Kronos Approvers; offering guidance as needed. Reviews time-cards and prepares Kronos integration files in absence of the Payroll Specialist.
- Assist with the management of federal, state or agency garnishment orders, communication, reporting and disbursements. Interacts directly with agencies and affected employees.
- Responsible for coordinating activities in accordance with various payroll-related deadlines.
- Manage individual workflow to coincide with numerous payroll production cycles and deadlines.
- Assist in the review of reports for validation of incoming deduction data from various departments.
- Work collaboratively with all departments to resolve any outstanding payroll issues.
- Prepare payroll related analysis and reports by researching, compiling, analyzing, and verifying data for the department.
- Prepares payment requests to 3rd parties benefit providers, unions, and other entities.
- Provides support of annual W-2 process implementation.
- Identify and analyze workflow issues and partner with dept. staff to develop and implement resolutions.
- Work closely with other HR Departments for various employee issues and staff changes.
- All other duties as required by department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates or Bachelors Degree or Certification in a finance related field and two to three years experience in an administrative role (payroll environment would be desirable).
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered; Skills and Competencies
- Must possess strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. May use other Microsoft programs as assigned;
- Must demonstrate good judgment, initiative and attention to detail;
- Must possess strong customer service, communication and organizational skills;
- May be required to work independently and produce quality work from conception to completion on assigned projects;
- Uses judgment and initiative in performing varied duties requiring a knowledge and understanding of the organization's pay related policies and departmental procedures
Minimum Salary Range: USD $58,500.00/Yr. Maximum Salary Range: USD $60,000.00/Yr. About Us:
The Payroll Analyst is responsible for the research, analysis, reconciliation and response to all pay and deduction related payroll production issues. The position will work independently to interpret applicable current university policies and procedures and make accurate applications and apply them correctly. This position will also interact with departments in interpretation and completion of the time-keeping process in Kronos.
