HSL Asset Management, LLC is continuing to grow! We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Payroll and Benefits Specialist! The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including payroll, offboarding, benefits, billing, and leave management, and enforcing company policies and practices. The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will also support areas such as employment law compliance for Payroll and Benefits, and work closely with senior management for all HR functions.Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate's degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training and certification may be substituted for the education.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Two to five years' experience in HR and/or payroll and benefits administration.
  • Proficient with Excel
  • Experience working with ADP Workforce Now is preferred
  • 401K and payroll processing experience is preferred
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR credential is preferred

Responsibilities
  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees' hourly rates, salaries, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, changes, and other information.
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, contributions, and other deductions.
  • Processes timely and accurate distribution of payroll.
  • Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly statements.
  • Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
  • Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance, support orders, tax levies in payroll system.
  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Assists with new-hire orientations, as need and collaborates with brokers as necessary.
  • Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
  • Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and eligibility.
  • Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
  • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
  • Assists with the open enrollment process.
  • Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
  • Communicates with employees about policy/procedure changes and resolving employee concerns, and benefits.
  • Prepares all billing reports, review, and reconciliation for remittance of payment for benefit premiums.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
