Position Summary:

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist at MDC ensures the seamless execution of payroll and benefits operations while maintaining the integrity of systems and processes. This position involves managing payroll for multiple entities, overseeing benefits administration, and ensuring compliance with all regulations. Success in this role relies on meticulous attention to detail, effective collaboration with stakeholders, and a commitment to optimizing processes for accuracy and efficiency.

Professional Background:

• Bachelor's degree, certification, or equivalent in related field.
• Minimum of five years of professional experience in Human Resources with responsibility for payroll, compensation, and benefits administration.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Certified Payroll Manager (CPM), Certified Payroll Specialist (CPS) or similar certification.
• Experience managing multi-state payroll.

Core Functions:

• Oversee and process payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution of discrepancies in adherence to state and federal regulations.
• Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies, ensuring compliance, handling inquiries, and maintaining alignment with organizational goals.
• Collaborate with brokers and vendors to evaluate, negotiate, and optimize benefit plans and offerings for quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage retirement plan administration, including 401(k), 403(b), and Safe Harbor plans, ensuring accurate remittance, compliance with requirements, and effective employee communication.
• Administer leave programs, such as STD, LTD, FMLA and state-specific policies, ensuring proper documentation, tracking, and adherence to regulations.
• Utilize automated payroll systems and HR technology to enhance efficiency, maintain accurate records, and ensure data integrity.
