Payroll Director - Alliance Resource Group : Job Details

Alliance Resource Group is exclusively partnered with a retail company in their search for a Director of Payroll.

Lead and direct the payroll function for a large, multi-site organization. This role involves overseeing a team, ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement in payroll processes. Relocation assistance is available.

• Leadership & Strategy:
  • Provide thought leadership and implement Payroll best practices.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to support organizational needs and achieve continuous quality improvement.
  • Provide guidance on operational standards and oversee efforts to automate and improve Payroll operations.
• Payroll Operations:
  • Ensure adherence to standards and production that results in timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Coordinate payroll operations with Finance & Accounting, HR, Operations, and other relevant departments.
  • Collaborate with the HRIS team on system changes and implementations.
  • Ensure superior customer service from the Payroll Team, responding to employee questions promptly.
  • Ensure the resolution of escalated payroll issues.
  • Lead projects focused on continuous improvement of payroll processes.
• Supervisory:
  • Manage and develop Payroll Team members, including hiring, professional development, and performance evaluation.

• 10+ years of combined payroll experience, including 5+ years as a Manager.
• 5+ years of direct responsibility for payroll administration in a multi-site organization.
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience).
• Strong knowledge of current payroll and HRIS systems.
• Experience with payroll taxation at all levels (federal, state, and local).
• Excellent analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to identify and resolve complex problems.
• Ability to independently manage projects.
