This salary range for this position is $85-100k/year commensurate with experience plus bonus potential.

Job Summary

The Payroll Specialist/Manager will work with the accounting and HR teams to accurately, consistently and dependably process the Company's biweekly payroll with the UKG system. They will assist with the maintenance of employee records in the database as well as the setup of new payroll, payroll tax, earnings, deductions and benefit codes in the system. The Payroll Specialist/Manager will need a mix of payroll experience, knowledge of the basics of multi-location / multi-state payroll, along with accuracy, detail orientation, dependability and an exceptional customer service orientation.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for processing the payroll for approximately 550 employees (salaried and hourly) using UKG on a biweekly basis
  • Assist in reviewing timecards, creating payroll reports, uploading files, assisting with UKG cases, processing checks-manual and termination, and collaborating with outside vendors
  • Collaborate with the HR department and assist with employee information, payroll setup information, benefits, and deductions
  • Oversee/audit processing of payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, raises
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies
  • Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions for co-workers
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Quality experience with personnel file maintenance
  • Practical knowledge of labor law basics
  • Proficiency in compensation and benefits
  • Experience with payroll and benefit policies & procedures
  • Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product.
  • Accountable for delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional work ethic.
  • A keen eye for detail

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • 3-5 years of experience with responsibility for salaried and hourly payroll
  • Understanding of basic payroll, payroll tax principles, payroll regulations and compliance requirements
  • Prior experience in high volume, multi-state payrolls preferred
  • Proven experience as a payroll manager or similar role
  • Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws
  • Excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes
  • Familiarity with cloud-based payroll software (UKG preferred)
  • Experience with MS Office (especially Excel)

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
