The Pennsylvania State University is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to oversee the administration of payroll services for faculty, staff, and student employees. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and providing leadership to the payroll team. The Payroll Manager will work closely with the Director of Payroll Services, HR and Finance departments to ensure timely and accurate compensation for all employees.
As the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for:
* Manage the end-to end payroll processing, ensuring accurate calculations of wages, overtime, tax withholdings, and deductions for benefits and retirement
* Ensure payroll practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including IRS regulations and labor laws
* Oversee W-2 generation, and other payroll related forms and documentation
* Generate and provide payroll reports for internal auditors and financial reviews
* Manage and maintain the payroll system, ensuring accurate setup of payroll related data
* Identify and implement system upgrades or process improvements in collaboration with system IT and other university central units
This position also provides exceptional customer service through telephone calls, electronic and in-person communications to address and resolve payroll issues, and sensitive and complex questions.
This position minimally requires a Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires experience in payroll and a proficient knowledge of Payroll practices, federal, state and local taxes, to include multi-state payroll taxation and gross to net calculations. Proficiency with payroll software (e.g. Workday) is preferred.
This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work depending on the time of year and for the budget cycle at least two days per week on site. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.
Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

$86,300.00 - $129,500.00
