Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $90,000.00 Annually

Rick Engineering is offering an exciting opportunity on the corporate accounting team as a full-time Payroll Manager. The Payroll Manager is responsible for performing a variety of general accounting payroll functions for Rick Engineering. Qualifications

Intermediate experience working in Deltek, ADP, and Excel required. Expert knowledge of California payroll laws and experience running multi-state, multi-entity payroll is essential. Certified Payroll Professional or other related payroll certification is highly desirable. Must have experience running payroll for hourly and prevailing wage staff in California. Must have knowledge in SUI, withholdings, and tax filings. Must have experience with implementing benefit deductibles and running data for end-of-year reporting such as 401k testing. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are necessary, along with a strong commitment to internal and external customer service and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or other related field is preferred, plus 5 or more years working in payroll; or an equivalent number of years of experience working with a multi-state payroll/multi-state jurisdictions is required. Experience with California payroll, multiple entities, taxes, and reporting is required.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Payroll for all offices includes entering hours for each employee, processing checks for employees leaving the company, etc.
  • Review timesheets for all offices weekly to check PTO, holiday, OT, etc.
  • Ensure total timesheets balance with Deltek G/L.
  • Maintain separate files of PTO for all offices for balances and accruals.
  • Perform Labor Compliance/Certified Payroll reporting as necessary for approximately 45 jobs (and growing).
  • Upload certified payroll data to necessary software portals.
  • Maintain records of all employee plan deductions and transmit a Payroll Upload file with the amounts withheld from the paychecks to the plan provider for all offices.
  • Keep up the salary lists and number of employees for all offices.
  • Conduct annual Non-Discrimination testing report for employee plan provider.
  • Gather information for the Worker's Comp audit.
  • Follow up with terminated employees regarding profit sharing and ensure their forms are completed correctly and notarized when needed.
  • Conduct verifications of employment and file as needed.
  • Ability to work in our San Diego office.
