Payroll Specialist

OVERVIEW: The successful candidate will work closely with the Payroll Managers and Human Resource team members to improve processes and communication regarding the payroll experience. This role requires moderate to advanced computer, research, and time management skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Resolve payroll issues and concerns through excellent customer service and communication to ESS staff.
  • Collaborate with PEO, Paychex payroll department to process weekly payroll.
  • Create financial and payroll reports for department heads on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Assist employees with direct deposit issues and pay card registration.
  • Conduct state and federal compliance audits.
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks provided by the Payroll Manager.
  • Complete periodic overtime as requested by the Payroll Manager, particularly during busy/peak seasons.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-2 years of previous payroll experience.
  • High ethical standards and integrity, including confidentiality.
  • Ability to adhere to strict payroll deadlines.
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills.
  • Excellent research and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
