ABOUT THE POSITION
The Shared Resource Center is seeking a candidate for the position of Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees. This role involves managing payroll operations, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and maintaining accurate employee payroll records. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a solid understanding of payroll systems and procedures in school or local government settings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Process payroll for all staff, including teachers, administrative staff, and support personnel, ensuring timely and accurate payment
* Enter and maintain employee payroll data in the system, including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and deductions
* Ensure payroll compliance with local, state, and federal laws, as well as school district policy and/or local government directives
* Manage and calculate deductions such as taxes, benefits, retirement plans, and garnishments
* Generate and review payroll reports for accuracy and provide summaries to management
* Respond to payroll-related inquiries from staff and resolve any discrepancies
* Assist in payroll audits and resolve discrepancies through effective research and communication
* Stay up to date on payroll software, changes in tax laws, and other relevant regulations
* Maintain accurate and confidential records, following data privacy policies
QUALIFICATIONS
* High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
* Experience with financial management software with advance skill level in Excel
* Excellent organizational, problem solving, and communication skills
* Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
* Ability to resolve complex issues in creative, concise, and effective ways
* Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and labor laws
* Ability to work in a faced paced environment
* Ability to set and manage goals and meet strict deadlines in multiple locations of varying sizes
* Remarkable work ethic
* Ability and willingness to travel locally
