JOB SUMMARY

As the Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for payroll processes for the company's bi-weekly multi-site and multi-state payroll for 200+ associates. You will perform a wide variety of payroll activities requiring excellent attention to detail. Our ideal candidate is a detail-oriented person who is excited about working with a small team, has excellent communications skills and has a solid understanding of payroll procedures. This is an onsite position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

+ Audit time records for accuracy and compliance with company policies.

+ Process full-cycle payroll operations relating to exempt & non-exempt employees with a high level of accuracy, including compensation, commissions, bonus payments, benefit deductions, new hires & terminations.

+ Research payroll issues/discrepancies and process necessary corrections.

+ Assist with compliance audits, ensuring accurate and timely deliverables.

+ Maintain employee files which relate to payroll issues.

+ Ensure taxes, garnishments, deductions, and employee changes are accurate and in compliance with state and federal regulations.

+ Set up and process payrolls in multiple states.

+ Transmit on time withheld deductions (401k & HSA)

+ Reporting & payment of Workers Comp Premiums and other Employer taxes.

+ Maintain payroll operations by training/instructing employees in the proper use of payroll-related systems including entry of timesheets, online access of pay statements, etc.

+ Process employee verification of employment requests.

+ Coordinate with HR on pay and benefit changes.

+ Updates payroll and benefit providers with benefit changes and works with COBRA administrator.

+ Build & run custom reports for management, accounting and HR as needed.

+ Manage confidential information appropriately.

+ Display general knowledge of payroll journal entries.

+ Demonstrate strong organizational skills with a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

+ Other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

+ Over five years' experience in processing full-cycle payroll over multiple states

+ Associate's degree in business administration, accounting technology or related field

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook and Excel

+ Experience using Human Resources Information System (HRIS) software

+ Experience with benefit deductions and reconciling invoices/accounts, working with external agencies, vendors, and benefit carriers

Preferred:

+ Certifications such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) from the American Payroll Association (APA)

+ Experience with ADP Workforce Now

+ Experience and understanding of benefits

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Office and travel have moderate noise levels. Machine/Product demonstrations and customer visits can have loud noise levels.

To meet customer requirements, the employee may be asked to travel in an airplane and/or vehicle to get to customer work sites. At times, this position walks on or through high elevations, underground and/or confined spaces, around high voltage and in heavy industrial and/or construction work environments such as bridges, dams, mines, power plants, shipyards, etc. The employee must be able to work in hazardous working environments with possible extreme working conditions to complete customer training and/or applications support.

Noise levels may be extreme and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided. Usage may be driven by customer requirements. Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, steel toe boots, hardhat and safety glasses, hearing protection. Customer site working environments can be extreme in regard to height, confined spaces, ambient temperature, physical requirements and hazards.
