Payroll Specialist – Global Proprietary Trading Firm – New York

Our Client

Our client, a leading global proprietary trading firm, is seeking a Payroll Associate to join their Human Resources team in New York. This role will focus on providing high-quality payroll support as part of their in-house payroll team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive bi-monthly payroll processing across multiple states in North America, ensuring accuracy and timeliness through scheduling, data gathering, input, reconciliation, and funding.
  • Prepare routine payroll and compensation reports for internal departments and participate in special survey initiatives.
  • Oversee the general ledger reporting process, which includes preparing, reviewing, and submitting files to the Accounting department.
  • Manage the year-end payroll procedures to ensure all necessary adjustments are accurately reflected in W2 processing.
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries related to payroll and benefits, managing responses via the Payroll and Benefits email inbox.
  • Collaborate with HR on onboarding and offboarding processes, maintaining accurate personnel and compensation data in relevant systems.
  • Provide support to the regional Payroll and Benefits team by reviewing completed payrolls and engaging in quarterly cross-processing for disaster recovery preparedness.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labour laws, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of payroll garnishments and tax regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records, fostering effective collaboration within the HR department.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience.
  • In-house payroll is essential.
  • Workday experience as a HRIS and Payroll system is essential.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team.
