The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing US payroll for Avanos Medical, including but not limited to the below:

  • Compilation and processing of transactional Payroll and/or Time Data for biweekly and semi-monthly payrolls

  • Audit to ensure registers, deductions, and payments are correct

  • Work with external payroll resources for processing and tax to ensure that errors are eliminated, and processing is completed timely and accurately.

  • In accordance with audit processes, investigate & resolve payroll discrepancies

  • Research, resolve, and respond to escalations from HR Service Center regarding escalated payroll inquiries from employees and managers

  • Assist with researching & responding to tax notices

  • Garnishment processing

  • Collaborate with partners from Compensation and Benefits for payroll related items, including benefit deductions, 401k, sick & STD pay, commissions, relocation, ESPP, and stock options.

  • In accordance with our procedures, process requests for off-cycle payments

  • Follow outlined procedures for completing tasks

  • Prepare payroll reports as requested

  • Assist with internal and external audit requests

Desired skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field

  • 2-3 years multi-state payroll experience, including garnishments and tax

  • Experience with third party payroll providers a plus

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, focus on Excel

  • Able to multi-task and have superior attention to detail, organizational, time management, and analytical skills

  • Able to work under strict deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy & confidentiality

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently in a professional manner with a team commitment

  • SAP SuccessFactors and EC Payroll a plus
