Role: Payroll Specialist Location: Tacoma, WA Pay Rate: $28-$32/hourOur Tacoma-based based client is looking for a Payroll Specialist. Candidate must have at least an Associate's degree, 2 years of payroll experience, and prior use of an ERP accounting system. The Payroll Specialist role consists of processing payroll for 140 employees, working cross-functionally with Accounting and HR, and entering data into the accounting system.Responsibilities:
- Collect and organize daily/weekly time sheets ensuring all information is accurate including regular and overtime hour totals.
- Enter all timesheet data into accounting system ensuring accuracy.
- Research discrepancies of payroll information and/or documentation for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures.
- Forward preliminary payroll report to mangers for review and authorization.
- Accurately maintain records of changes affecting employee's net wages including insurance coverages, garnishments, 401k Plan deductions, etc.
- Produce federal, state, and local tax payments.
- Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes and deductions.
- Prepare and distribute paychecks.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of payroll policies and procedures ensuring they are communicated clearly and effectively to personnel.
- Ensure prompt and accurate payment of benefit premiums including medical, dental, and voluntary benefits.
- Assist in processing retirement contributions and participate in annual 401k audit.
