DescriptionWe are looking for a dynamic Payroll Specialist to join our Gentle Heart Recovery Corporate Office team. Job duties:
- Accurately enters data into payroll and HRIS system as required
- Processes, accurately the biweekly and weekly, union and non-union payrolls with accuracy and efficiency
- Distributes paychecks and manages resolution of payroll discrepancies
- Reviews personnel changes including new hires, terminations, status changes and employee changes in the HRIS system that impact directly payroll processing.
- Accurately maintains the paid time off (PTO) and other HR data within the system, and back up excel spreadsheets as required
- Manages system improvements to improve the efficiency of the payroll and ancillary system processes.
- Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers, our employees and managers with payroll related questions and/or concerns
- Accurately prepares regular reports to include union dues, pension contribution, overtime, and others as requested/required
- Responds to request for information for audit purposes in a timely fashion
- Participates or leads employee engagement activities in order to improve employee retention

- Offer suggestions for change or improvement of the human resource function
- Supports project related work as requested or needed

RequirementsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates Degree with minimum of 3 years' payroll processing work experience; or High School Diploma with minimum of 5 years' work experience in payroll processing
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong customer service skills dealing with internal and external customers;
- Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office platform, HRIS and payroll systems
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize work responsibility. Deadline and detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working within a Union environment
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- Experience with processing multiple exempt and non-exempt payrolls
- HR Experience, working in a fast paced HR Office
- Ability to work well as a member of the HR Team
