Performs accounting/payroll support services of payroll processing, deduction review, tax filings and a variety of other time-sensitive tasks. Also performs report writing, procedure documentation, and special projects as assigned. Responsibilities:
- Participates in payroll preparation, processing and review
- Multi-state and weekly and bi-weekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employee
- Reviews deductions to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Files and pays payroll taxes, garnishments, etc. for multiple states and companies
- Reconciles payroll tax liability accounts for each payroll company
- Verifies Storm Team hours
- Prepares and process prevailing wage payrolls and reports
- Assists at quarter and year-end with the balancing and closing of payroll files and the generation of accurate W-2's
- Assists with the testing, training and documentation of new software/processes, including procedure documentation
- Assist with resolving payroll system issues, project numbers, etc.
- Report generation as required by management, assists as needed with audit.
- Reconciles bank statements for company bank accounts. Reconciles to on-line bank balance on at least a bi-weekly basis.
- Provides backup support for the Payroll Manager and Payroll Coordinator as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience: Prefer two or four-year college graduate with a degree in accounting or business. Payroll/timekeeping background and bank statement reconciliation experience preferred. Proficiency in spreadsheets, word-processing and file maintenance required. Communication, organization, problem-solving, analytical skills and attention to detail are also essential. Physical Requirements: Limited lifting, no greater than 30 pounds in the movement of office materials and equipment. Hand and finger dexterity for use of keyboard skills; ability to use computer terminal, phone and general office equipment in course of work. Environmental Conditions: Performs duties in an inside administrative office environment.
