The Peer Mentor will help new employees acquire the full range of knowledge and skills they need to succeed in a new work environment. They are responsible for the completion of checklists for each new HCT/CNA as well as any other orientation specific to the unit to which they are assigned. The Peer Mentor / HCT-II is responsible for providing ongoing individual support/coaching of new staff. In consultation with the Unit Nurse Manager and Floor-Shift Supervisor, the Peer Mentor / HCT-II identifies any remediation needs and provides specific precepting/coaching for each employee's needs. As a function of precepting new staff, the Peer Mentor/ HCT-II is responsible for providing direct observations resulting in the identification of needed remedial development and support as the new employee learns his/her job skills and successfully adjusts to the OBNMTC work culture.
