GENERAL DESCRIPTIONUnder supervision of the Children's Mental Health Services (CMHS) Program Administrator, the Family Partner/Family Support position provides direct services to specifically identified parents of child consumers who have elected to receive parent support services. Working with the Wraparound Team, the position serves as a liaison between the identified family and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team providing peer mentoring, non-clinical contact, informal support, and information. The mission of this position is to support the parent as the child goes through the treatment process thereby increasing satisfaction with services and to help improve parental understanding of and adherence to treatment goals.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides a point of contact for the family with regard to non-clinical matters and community information.
- Provides peer mentoring and support as needed to parents of consumers who have elected the family partner option in their service packages.
- May provide direct services to family members in groups as the leader of a peer-facilitated educational group centered on issues related to diagnosis and treatment under Center services. As leader of this group, the Family Partner may be required to give presentations, show films, and answer questions from a peer/parental perspective.
- The Family Partner completes documentation and submits it in a timely and accurate manner, according to program guidelines to ensure standards are met. If the Family Partner is a QMHP, notes provided should be in billable format.
- This position functions as an advocate to the parent or guardian and may help with linkage to non-clinical supports not available under the clinical treatment plan.
- The Family Partner interfaces with other treatment team members and may attend staffing, assessments, ARDs, or other meetings as needed if this is the wish of the Consumer's family and if this is included in the treatment plan. Attend all wraparound meetings.
- The Family Partner is responsible for completing all Center assigned training, and for maintaining Center training renewals and certifications as required to remain current.
- The Family Partner will complete documentation in a timely manner, i.e. 2 business days.
- Some evening work and travel within the local area may be required. During business hours Center vehicle to be used if available, in not, travel will be reimbursed at the current Center rate.
- Attend Certified Family Partner comments & applicable conferences as needed/required.
- Family Partner to attend training and meet requirements to gain certification within year of accepting Family Partner position. Must maintain certification by completing required continuing education.

- IMPLEMENTATION - Do only what is essential and always look for someone else to do what you are doing.
- EVALUATION & DOCUMENTATION - Check in regularly. Help to monitor the progress at an informal level with the family.
- May provide Family Support for YES Waiver individuals: provide peer mentoring and encouragement to the primary caregiver(s); engage the family in the treatment process; model self-advocacy skills; provide information, referral and non-clinical skills training; maintain engagement; and assist in the identification of natural/non-traditional and community support systems.
- Demonstrate high ethical standards, trustworthiness, and personal integrity. Regular attendance, dependability, and promptness are required for the 8-5 work day or agreed upon hours 100% of the time, to ensure consistency and completeness of program's processes.
- Must stay compliant with all required training.
- Professional Development - Successfully complete training required to maintain skill competency and cross training to ensure consistency across program procedures. Complete continuing education as required by professional standards and the Center.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONSExperience/Education/Licensing/Certification
- Have a high school diploma, or a high school equivalency certificate issued in accordance with the law of the issuing state
- One cumulative year of experience navigating the mental health system as the parent or primary caregiver of a youth receiving mental health community services;
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
