The Salvation Army Columbia Corps located in Columbia, Missouri, is looking for a Peer Support Specialist. The individual in this position must be willing to serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to recovering individuals in order to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. The Peer Support Specialist must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships.
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, with starting pay of $20.00 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
High school/equivalent diploma and one year work experience or two year's work experience without diploma. Must have a Missouri Certified Peer Specialist or eligible to receive credential within 60 days. Must have or be willing to obtain the following: Must have or be willing to obtain a Class E license. Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimal supervision. Must think independently and demonstrate sound judgment. Must be supportive of The Salvation Army's mission and policies. The position requires a high level of confidentiality. Good communication skills as well as the ability to work with diverse and challenging personalities are essential.
Physical and Working Conditions
Must be capable of performing the above essential duties in an office environment to include using a computer, answering phones, etc. Must be willing to travel to hospitals, clinics, churches, homeless shelters and other locations to engage clients. Occasionally lifts 20 pounds and sometimes up to 40 pounds. Most work will be indoors in a temperature control environment; however, some outdoor work is required.
