The Staff Nurse Will Be Responsible For
- Working with the hematology team to provide care for patients of all ages from newborn through young adulthood with a wide variety of acute and chronic non-malignant hematologic conditions. These include sickle cell disease, various forms of anemia, hemophilia and other coagulation disorders, ITP and other platelet disorders, and neutropenia and other disorders of white cells.
- Managing clinic patient flow and attending to patient care needs and patient education in hematology clinic. Consulting with the medical team to respond to phone calls from active hematology patients/families calling with acute medical issues and concerns. Communicating with families to provide follow-up after hospital discharge. Coordinating patient care and providing education/documentation to community providers, including outside institutions, PCPs, and school and camp personnel.
- Reviewing referral documentation and labs from both internal and community providers to determine reason for referral, appropriate timeframe and provider for hematology consultation.
To Qualify You Must Have
- A BSN degree
- Minimum 2 years pediatric nursing experience required. Ambulatory or inpatient hematology/oncology experience preferred.
- Ability to work at the minimum one shift (8 hours) per week.
