Position Summary Coordinates all activities with the surgery schedule, ensuring that 100% of all surgery patient procedures are completed timely and efficiently. Two (2) years current PACU RN experience required. Responsibilities Liaison with the OR for move-ups, cases that are overbooked and need all subsequent cases called, etc. The liaison makes those phone calls and coordinates with both units. Checking consents for all 1st round patients daily (and as needed throughout the day) Assisting with changes to procedures, updating panels, fixing consents as needed Facilitates day before confirmation calls Ideally will connect with each physician/service line office to learn how they do confirmation calls, streamline this process and hand off again to the offices once the process is solid Assist with patients going directly to the OR, bypassing pre-op. Can go to the floor to help obtain consents, locate proxy, ensure patient has all necessary items to go to surgery (H&P update, site marking, consents, clearances, etc.) Ensure next day first cases are ready to go (fixing consent/booking errors, locate notes, ensure clearances have been obtained, make note of labs that are out of range, etc) This will hopefully expand to looking at more than the first cases for the next day, and will involve looking at each of the scheduled cases Call patients and/or offices for any issues (patient late, stated they were canceling, etc) During downtime will help float and call reports in pre-op Qualifications Education/Training Must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN) within 36 months of placement. Licensure/Certification Current license in the State of Florida. Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider Certification and appropriate Advanced Life Support, if required by individual facility.
