Job Description: The Director of Emergency Department oversee the Emergency Department at Geneva General Hospital and Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, located in Penn Yan NY. QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum: Master's degree in nursing or related area such as MBA MPA
- Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Certification Required: Certification for Emergency Nursing within one year. BLS, ACLS, PALS through the RQI system during clinical orientation. Basic Coronary Care obtained within 6 months of hire. CPI certification obtained within 6 months of hire.
- CEN or relevant certification strongly desired and TNCC
- 5 years nursing experience in emergency services (Emergency Department), 3 years of progressive leadership in an acute care hospital environment.
- Moderate sedation competency within six months of hire into this position.
- Candidate must have a demonstrated track record of improving department operations.
- This includes quality, patient safety, productivity, efficiency and customer satisfaction (employee and patient).
- Candidate must have experience with emergency department performance indicators and using data to support analysis and solutions.
- Candidate must have experience applying best practices and innovative strategies to improve performance metrics, quality and the customer experience.
- Candidate must have experience establishing, building and developing positive relationships with staff and physicians.
- Must be a highly visible, engaged, take charge leader who has a willingness to coach and mentor.
- Candidate must have knowledge and understanding of State, Federal and Joint Commission requirements.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and power point & Meditech
Responsibility Summary: The Director of Critical Care has major responsibility for implementation of strategies and activities designed to achieve and support uncompromising quality, exceptional patient safety and an outstanding patient / family experience. The Director of Critical Care assures the coordination of care across department lines through a focus on systems that promote interadisciplinary collaboration and communication. Responsible for supervision and oversite of the Critical Care areas, Emergency Department, Medic 55 ALS Program Reports to: CNOSupervises: RN-BEDSIDE ED, TECH CLERK ED, PATIENT CARE TECH ED, SR. SECRETARY, NURSING ASST/UNIT CLERK AND SECRETARY ED SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS [note: bold skills and certification are required]
