Job Description :
Van AideThis position is responsible for ensuring the safe transport of students by implementing students' IEP requirements and behavior plans. This individual is responsible to assist students in and out of the vehicle, car seats, and specialized securements. This individual must assist drivers and learn the run to help with substitution.Essential Functions:
  • Load and unload students as required
  • Be knowledgeable of the unique needs of students with special needs
  • Assist in evacuation drills and other emergencies
  • Communicate effectively with school staff, students, and parents
  • Operate special equipment - including special equipment including special car seats and safety equipment
  • Assist the driver
  • Learn the route so as to direct a substitute who may be asked to drive the run
  • Observe the students to keep them safe in their seat
  • Attend all required trainings as assigned by the Supervisor of Transportation
  • Address child safety and behavioral concerns while the vehicle is in motion
  • Follows the policies and procedures outlined in the Bucks County Transportation Manual

The employee may be required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • PA Department of Education Form 6004: Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification - Act 24
  • PA State Police Criminal History Clearance - Act 34
  • Federal Criminal History Clearance - Act 114
  • Child Abuse Clearance - Act 151
  • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release - Act 168
  • Tuberculosis Test/Physical
