Nevada County is seeking a Permit Processing Technician to work in the Environmental Health Department of the Community Development Agency. This position will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service to the community. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, demonstrates great attention to detail, is well organized, self-directed, and professional. This candidate will review, process, and approve permits, that do not require professional-level certification, perform field inspections, data entry, supporting and assisting in project assignments, serving as a customer service representative, and performing related work as required.
Desired Knowledge includes:
* Basic principles and functions of the Environmental Health Department and other Departments within the Community Development Agency.
* Techniques for gathering, compiling, and presenting data in visual form.
* Local land use ordinance, zoning, and agency policies.
* Basic principles of chemistry, biology, and environmental geology.
Desired Skills include:
* Interpreting and explaining policies and regulations accurately and tactfully to the public.
* Reviewing permit applications for accuracy and completeness.
* Planning, organizing, and carrying out research.
* Using computer technology and applications in the performance of daily activities.
* Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
* Maintaining records and preparing routine correspondence and reports.
* Analyzing and evaluating data to make recommendations based on findings.
