Handle both routine and the more complex customer inquiries and problems and maintain favorable customer and employee relations by performing the duties described below. Open new accounts and perform related responsibilities associated with the customer service functions of the Bank ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Follow customer service procedures to ensure they are met to the highest standard consistently by providing professional, pleasant greetings, making eye contact, smiling and addressing the customer by name.Process checking and savings account transactions; mortgage, consumer and commercial loan payments and payoffs. Note and verify significant information as required by Bank policy/procedure. Ensure that Bank procedures are followed when performing transactions on the teller machine and other equipment as required.. Exercise discretion, judgment, and initiative regarding transaction problems and inquiries.Be effective at identifying customers financial service needs and cross selling services to meet those needs. Advise customers on promotional items and services. Refer customers to customer service representatives or loan department as needed.Maintain adequate working funds as required by Bank policy. Maintain cash drawer limits as set forth in the Banks cash limit policy. Verify and balance assigned cash drawer daily with minimal cash variances. Assist in reconciling errors or discrepancies for self and other tellers. Assist in forecasting cash demand for Branch.As needed, purchase working money supply from vault. Verify that opening and closing procedures of the vault are followed.Take in and dispense various denominations of coin and currency. Count and verify currency to sell. Balance or assist in balancing the working fund. Accumulate mutilated currency to be shipped out.Issue cashier checks and money orders and process the redemption of savings bonds. Open night deposit vault logging the contents in logbook, distribute the contents to proper individuals, and process all deposits including mail deposits and other transactions using dual control at all times.Maintain inventory of teller supplies.Count, wrap and bag coins.Obtain appropriate documentation from customer or non-customer for currency transaction reporting. Required knowledge of BSA regulations.Receive and answer telephone inquiries and questions on Bank transaction services and procedures, maintaining good customer relations at all times. Direct customers to appropriate employees for answers to only the most complex problems or inquiries.Assist customers with questions on the status of accounts, bank statements, charges, interest, etc. in an efficient, courteous manner, ensuring a positive customer experience.May assist on training new tellersFollow all security procedures as outlined by the security policy to ensure dual control is followed at all times.Follow the check cashing policy as outlined by the bank while still maintaining friendly and positive relationships with the customer.Assist customers with entry to their safe deposit box, ensuring all bank procedures are followed in the process. Verify access authority against safe deposit box contract for each access request, exercising prescribed controls, check booth or safe deposit box vault after each use.Maintain confidentiality of customer account information. Follow established policies and procedures in responding to inquiries and requests.Have ability to identify customers financial service needs and cross-sell services to meet those needs. Advise customers on promotional items and services.Provide assistance to co-workers with difficult internal problems or customer inquiries. Ensure prompt and courteous response to customer inquiries.Balance ATM, replenish cash supply and ensure the ATM is in working order.Thorough product knowledge.Understanding of regulatory compliance.Accept and process payments for new boxes, renewals, drilling fees and lost key fees.Must satisfactorily meet sales goals established by the Bank.Must experience consistent and accurate cash balancing.Open or close various types of time and demand deposit accounts, including certificates of deposit, NOW accounts, savings accounts, regular checking accounts, IRAs, safe deposit boxes, ensuring that applicable regulations, disclosures, policies, and procedures are observed, including the transfer of customer accounts from other institutions. Maintain favorable customer relations and cross-sell Bank services through needs identification thus ensuring the most positive and profitable relationship exists between the Bank and its customers. Handle outgoing wire transfers.Process address changes, check orders, name changes, ownership changes and notary services.Establish electronic banking services to include Cash Management.Assist in solving debit card/ATM and potential problems. Assists with customer checking account problems.Sets up direct deposit/auto debits to customer accounts.NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Count, wrap and bag coins.Work as a Personal Banker at any given location.Conduct oneself in a professional and appropriate manner at all times, whether at work or outside business hours, remembering you are a representative of the Bank.Maintain educational and professional expertise through attendance at job related seminars, conferences, and workshops and involvement in professional, civic, and community groups in leadership positions.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES There are no supervisory responsibilities in this position.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have the ability to operate the following equipment: telephone, scanner, 10-key calculator, personal computer and printer, copy machine, shredder, coin counter, currency counter, step stool or ladder, multi-drawer file cabinet, cash advance machine, ATM/Debit card re-pin machine and fax machine. Must have working knowledge of the following software programs: Jack Henry 20/20, Vertex, Image Centre, Word, Excel and various other software programs as required.KEY CONTACTSInternal and External Has daily contact with other Personal Bankers.Has moderate contact with Lending and other bank departments regarding customer transactions or bank services.Has daily contact with bank customers, their personal representatives, accountants, attorneys, etc., regarding transactions and in responding to inquiries.Has occasional contact with various individuals at other financial institutions regarding check approvals, credit card cash advances, etc. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid driver's license.Able to be bonded by the Banks surety company.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
