DETAILS OF POSITION Location: Lompoc, CA / Full Time Position / Work Days: Monday - Friday / Hours: 8:45 am - 2:45 pm / Hourly Rate: $16.00 PURPOSE OF POSITION The Personal Care Attendant assists staff in providing personal care to the Individuals served. Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, a person must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. - Provides basic nutritional services to Individuals served; feeding meals and snacks based upon established guidelines; performs cleanup and food storage/labeling duties.
- Provides personal care services for Individuals served, including those related to mobility, transferring, and toileting.
- Assists with, and contributes to, the development of Individual needs and support plans.
- Assists with cleaning of the facility and equipment as necessary.
- Assists with maintaining required and appropriate documentation, including: incident reporting
- Assists with therapeutic, recreational and social program activities.
- Uses positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques with Individuals served. In the temporary absence of the Instructor, continues the current program activity with remaining Individuals served.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. No experience in the field required.
- Ability to write, read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to VTC individuals served and fellow employees.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and management.
- Interact diplomatically with the public.
- Foster a stimulating, accepting learning environment.
- Perform effectively in environments with frequent workload changes and competing demands.
- Set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic written or oral instructions.
- Ability to think through the consequences of a decision prior to making it.
- Ability to recognize an emergency situation and take appropriate action.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
Requirements
- Must meet and maintain Community Care Licensing criminal history criteria.
- Maintain First Aid, CPR, and CPI Certifications (training available).
