Through culturally responsive and experiential financial literacy education, FLY adopts a holistic, multi-generational approach to financial wellness, ensuring inclusivity, equity, and accessibility in all programming.Position Summary:The Personal Finance Educator will deliver high-quality, engaging personal finance education to youth and young adults across FLY Initiative's program areas. This role requires a dynamic facilitator committed to empowering participants with practical financial knowledge, coaching, and resources. The educator will complete professional development to become an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) and contribute to program evaluation, community engagement, and organizational growth initiatives.Key Responsibilities:1. Program Delivery & Facilitation:
- Deliver FLY's comprehensive personal finance curriculum to assigned participants, covering essential topics such as:
- Career planning and goal setting
- Banking fundamentals and taxes
- Managing credit and financing higher education
- Savings, investing, and insurance
- Conscious spending plans and financial goal development
- Adapt instruction to meet diverse participant needs, ensuring inclusivity, accessibility, and engagement.
- Provide academic and individualized coaching support to students as needed.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements for curriculum delivery and participant outcomes.
2. Community Engagement & Support:
- Facilitate personal finance workshops and seminars for community-based organizations and partners.
- Conduct 1:1 financial coaching sessions with participants, supporting their goals for financial stability.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align instructional delivery with organizational diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
- Mentor and support fellow Educators during program preparation and delivery.
3. Professional Development:
- Complete professional certifications through NGPF (Next Gen Personal Finance).
- Obtain Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) accreditation within the designated timeline.
- Engage in ongoing training, including emotional intelligence, strengths-based development, and antiracism education.
4. Organizational Collaboration:
- Assist in grant-writing efforts and program evaluation processes to demonstrate impact and drive continuous improvement.
- Support policy and advocacy initiatives to promote equitable access to financial education.
- Represent FLY Initiative at workshops, events, and networking opportunities to build strong partnerships and amplify organizational reach.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in education, finance, social work, or a related field.
- Experience facilitating workshops or educational programming for youth and young adults, preferably in personal finance or life skills.
- Strong classroom management skills and comfort leading group discussions.
- Commitment to FLY's mission to end generational poverty through financial literacy and education.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including students, families, and community partners.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and general office management tools.
- Strong time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Passion for fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in education.
