Job Description :

We are searching for a litigation paralegal for a plaintiff's firm in the Columbia, SC area. The ideal Litigation Paralegal candidate will assist attorneys in all stages of the litigation process from maintaining case documents/databases, discovery work, drafting and answering interrogatories, requests for production, and requests to admit. Must be comfortable with state and federal e-filing and be able to assist in all aspects of case management. Candidates must have strong communication skills to communicate with both clients and attorneys.

Sample responsibilities:

  • Preparation and service of Pleadings
  • Maintaining case documents/databases
  • Reviewing case documents and preparing case chronologies
  • Preparing the first draft of discovery including drafting and answering interrogatories, requests for production, and requests to admit
  • Drafting and serving subpoenas
  • Legal Document preparation and drafting including pleadings, motions, trial documents, etc.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and SC Civil Procedure requirements
  • Must be comfortable with state and federal e-filing

Minimum requirements and other qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in Paralegal Studies or Paralegal Certificate
  • 2-3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal at a law firm
  • Great customer service skills, both in-person and over the phone
  • Strong personal work ethic and ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet critical deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proof-reading skills, with the ability to be detail-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize caseload and daily tasks
  • Ability to work overtime
