Job Duties
conduct fitness consultations according to protocol, design exercise programs, & instruct clients about exercise
lead students through workout sessions while providing helpful feedback.
provide safe exercise recommendations to clients based on established industry guidelines
act as a responder in the event of an emergency
keep accurate written records
steward confidential personal information and paperwork
Duties may also include:
shifts in the fitness centers
delivering or assisting with special event programs
Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience: Job Requirements
Nationally recognized Personal Trainer Certification (e.g., NSCA, ACSM, ACE, NASM, ISSA, etc.) that is current and will be maintained
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (a short grace period may be allowed to obtain or renew CPR/AED/First Aid certifications)
Ability to lift 20 to 45lbs.
Proficiency with using and demonstrating fitness center equipment
Physically able to demonstrate various types of exercise
Preferred: Some experience with personal training, coaching or teaching exercise and/or certification workshop experience that included building practical skills
Work Schedule: Work schedule is extremely flexible based on student availability around academic classes and other responsibilities (minimum of 8 hours per week is expected).
On the job training is provided (typically 10-20 hours) and paid at the current minimum wage. Personal trainers must complete on the job training within one month of hire.
