DescriptionThe Personal Trainer's main responsibility is to develop and deliver safe, comprehensive training and wellness programming to the members of the Fitness Center choosing to participate in this dedicated, additional training and assistance. This part-time position reports directly to the Fitness Director.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Provide individual personal training, tandem (partner), and small group training to the clients of the fitness center
- Develop a training program including fitness and wellness goals and testing
- Keep records and track progress of each client
- Assist in the sale of personal training and maximize client retention
- Provide 45-minute fitness orientations to new members of the fitness center
- Attend fitness team meetings and individual meetings with the Fitness Director
- Outstanding interpersonal communications and coaching skills
- Knowledgeable and current with fitness and health science and trends

- At least 1 year of personal training experience preferred
- Previous experience with fitness program design required
- Strong history in customer service environment
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
- Physical agility and strength
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods and walking frequently
- Capable of demonstrating exercises prescribed to clientele
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned by the Fitness Director and/or the General Manager

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.). Upon hire and training, the individual must be able to successfully utilize the Hagerstown Field House Member/Guest registration software and Timeclock software.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- High school degree or GED equivalent
- Four-year degree in kinesiology, sports medicine or other related field preferred
- Certified Personal Trainer (minimum of one)
- ACE, ACTION, AAPTE, ACSM, CSCCa, Cooper Institute, LT Academy, NASM, NCSF, NCCPT, NESTA, NETA, NFPT, NSCA, PTA Global
- CPR/AED Certification within 60 days of hire
