**POSITION SUMMARY**: Responsible for applying pesticides in support of landscape maintenance and landscape construction operations. This is a position that includes the responsibility of supervising personnel, assisting in the work and setting a positive example of behavior, attitude and work ethic. The position requires knowledge in the safe handling and application of pesticides in accordance with the laws and regulations of the State of California.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To successfully fulfill this job position, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the skill and ability required. 1. Organizes, schedules and performs specific on-site job tasks efficiently.

2. Works well with others in a team environment and is helpful and courteous to customers.

3. Accurately identifies the target pest, calibrates equipment and applies pesticides according to recommended label rates.

4. Completes Company spray reports daily for accuracy and submits to immediate Manager weekly.

5. Supervises and trains personnel in safe pesticide application. The Pest Control Operator may be asked to conduct annual pesticide training as required by the State.

6. Completes Hours Sheets, job billing sheets, and other field reports daily and submit on time. Ensures all invoices and charges are coded with proper job numbers and descriptions. Timely and accurate record keeping is absolutely essential.

7. Performs regular equipment maintenance on assigned power equipment and schedule regular preventive maintenance on assigned vehicle as recommended by the Shop Manager. Ensures equipment and hand tools are properly used, maintained, stored and secured against theft, reporting any misuse, abuse or injury to your immediate manager.

8. Maintains clean chemical storage are and disposes of empty chemical containers. 9. Follows and enforces all safety practices as listed in the employee manual and as recommended by the equipment and products manufacturers.

10. Uses material as outlined in the landscape pesticide application program.

11. Reviews schedule to request products needed to perform work. 12. Possess and maintain a company planner.

13. Complies with all established company policies and procedures.

14. Must work five consecutive 8-hour days, beginning upon dispatch from designated Yard, through assigned work hours, weather permitting. Is available to work overtime if requested by Management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION'S ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Ability to lift and carry, push and pull 20-50 pounds of landscape material and equipment daily.

2. Ability to lift and carry on back a 30 pound blower occasionally.

3. Ability to start and use all power equipment without aid from others.

4. Ability to walk, stand, squat and kneel repetitively on a daily basis.

5. Make frequent repetitive movements with the left and right hand, wrist, ankle and knee.

6. Ability to twist, turn, and bend the trunk of the body frequently.

7. Ability to lift and carry on back a 40 pound backpack sprayer.

**OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:**

1. Performs similar job related duties as assigned.

**Job Requirements**

* Possess and utilize good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, employees and managers.

* Must be able to read and write English.

* Must possess a valid California drivers' license with a driving record acceptable to the Company's insurance carrier.

* Must currently be a licensed Qualified Applicator and attend continuing education programs to keep license current.

* Must have an agricultural B.S. degree or minimum of 1-year practical experience as a licensed Qualified Applicator.

WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING THIS POSITION'S ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Outdoor physical labor in temperatures ranging from cold 20+ to heat of 100+ and exposure to rain. Flexibility in hours of operation is required due to the nature of the work. Spraying around commercial sites usually requires working at night, as well as occasional weekends (low traffic times of public).

2. Exposure to dust, pollen, chemicals, noise and pollutants related to the landscape industry (fertilizer, pesticide, etc.).

3. Machinery/equipment noise, traffic and hazards related to the landscape industry in a commercial environment.
