Job Description: Pharmacy ADC Automation Tech I\n Full-time, Day Shift, Monday through Friday, No weekends.\n AFSCME - Union\n Posted: February 3, 2025 \n Purpose:Responsible for maintaining all Pharmacy automated dispensing devices, related products, and software. This includes but is not limited to Automated Drug Cabinets (ADC), Oral Solid Packagers, Vertical Carousel Storage Cabinets, and Narcotic Storage/Dispensing Cabinets (C-II Safe) Pandora. The Technicians will be responsible and proficient at running required reports, updating software, building storage drawers, and all user echelon maintenance. He/she will be responsible for inventory adjustments to reduce the stockouts, reduce dormant medications add new medications, or increase the inventory of existing drugs. He/she will also be responsible for user maintenance and staff education to include but not necessarily limited to Nursing, Pharmacy Techs, and Pharmacists. The Technician will also need to have a full understanding of how the host interacts with the ADC and other automated inventory retrieval systems. Responsible for the proper storage and distribution of drugs; receives and accounts for drugs coming from all vendors. Delivers drugs to patient care and other areas; picks up drug returns and applicable paperwork; and puts all returned unit-dose products back to proper receipts. Responsible for filling patient drug boxes, floor stock orders, and automated dispensing cabinets. Assists Pharmacists as directed. Maintains daily reports.Responsibilities:\n\nMaintains Users in all systems used as required.\nBasic understanding of the concept of physical stability and chemical stability as it relates to parenteral pharmaceuticals.\nBuilds, updates, moves, and revises current automation equipment.\nProvide staff education to provide for the end users optimization of the product.\nPerform basic pharmaceutical calculations.\nWork with IT on Pharmacy Automation/Host issues.\nOptimize inventory to reduce the number of stockouts.\nUnderstands microbial contamination and exhibits Aseptic Technique while preparing sterile pharmaceutical products.\nCorrectly interpret physician orders and can distinguish between pharmaceutical orders, laboratory tests, radiology, nursing, and other orders.\nPrepare correct labeling for bulk drugs.\nRepackages drugs into a unit-of-use container.\nCoordinates and schedules manufacturer preventative maintenance.\nAccurately fills floor stock requests.\nProvide user-level maintenance.\nSelects drugs from stock in the proper dose, dosage form, and quantity as ordered by a physician under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.\nPerform monthly medication storage area inspections.\n\nEducation and Formal Training Required: High School Diploma or GED required.\nMust hold current Certified Pharmacist Technician Certification or obtain it within 12 months.\nExperience Required: Must have a minimum of 24 months of Hospital Pharmacy practice experience and worked with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC).\nHave completed a national ADC vendors-provided training program.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:\nCertified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)\nAct 34\n\n UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
