Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for managing the daily pharmacy operations. Duties include review and submit timecards, approve earned time requests, monitor department productivity, daily purchasing and inventory control, assist with department budget preparation and monitoring, participate on RMC committees to represent pharmacy as assigned and special projects as assigned. The Operations Manager will also assist with preparation of meeting regulatory operation standards for regulatory agency, IDPH and the state. Staff education and competencies, Lean, 340 B, and automated medication distribution will also be assigned to the Operations Manager. The Pharmacist is responsible for providing drug information to the customer. The Pharmacist is also responsible for assuring adequate stock of medication is available when needed. This position reports to the Pharmacy Director.Essential Duties
  • Actively participates in pharmacy department's clinical pharmacy model.
  • Assists with departmental budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Assists with preparation of and meeting regulatory operation standards of regulatory agency, IDPH and the state.
  • Assures that adequate stock of medication is available to meet patients' needs.
  • Consults with physicians and nurses concerning drug therapy and provides inservice education and patient education as needed.
  • Intervenes to clarify medication orders as necessary to assure appropriate drug therapy.
  • Maintains required documentation for governing bodies.
  • Monitors daily purchasing and inventory control.
  • Monitors department productivity.
  • Participates on RMC committees to represent Pharmacy as assigned.
  • Prepare injectable chemotherapy for use in the medical center.
  • Processes or supervises the filling of medication orders and outpatient prescriptions.
  • Provides proper supervision of technician work.
  • Review and submit timecards; manages daily schedules; approves earned time requests.
  • Reviews patient medication profiles for appropriate drug therapy.
  • Special projects as assigned; Lean, 340 B, and automated medication distribution.
Staff education and competencies.
  • Supervises activity in the IV Admixture room and assists as necessary.
  • Provides proper supervision of technician work.
  • Verifies all medication orders with a copy of the physician's original order.
  • Processes or supervises the filling of medication orders and outpatient prescriptions.
RequirementsPreferred Experience
  • Hospital pharmacy experience would be beneficial but is not required.
Required Licensure/Education
  • Must be a graduate of an approved college of Pharmacy. Current Illinois pharmacist license.
