Job Description :
Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs a variety of tasks involving routine drug distribution, stocking, purchasing, billing, and record keeping duties in the pharmacy department. This position expands upon the duties and responsibilities of the Pharmacy Technician I. This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. He or she will be required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties requested by his or her supervisor.
  • Functions as secretary/receptionist for the pharmacy department. Answers phone calls and receives and processes request according to protocols. Accurately types and files documents in the specified time and location.
  • Assists in routine preparation of medications and inventory management.
  • Responsible for the preparation and delivery of medications throughout the organization.
  • Prepares, refills and loads medications to automated dispensing machines.
  • Prepares and compounds non-sterile compounds.
  • Prepares and compounds sterile compounds, including non-antineoplastic hazardous medications.
  • Issues Pharmacy supplies to various departments throughout the hospital.
  • Processes charges and credits to patient accounts.
  • Participates in the training of new Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Assists in the supervision of new Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Assists with medication area inspections in the Pharmacy and throughout the organization.
  • Performs additional responsibilities within the department as needed.
  • Assists with special projects or performance improvement initiatives.
  • Assists in maintaining the Department's standards in cleanliness, orderliness, and recordkeeping. Communicates essential needs to the Director/Manager/Supervisor of Pharmacy.
  • Attends and participates in Monadnock Community Hospital in-service programs, committees and functions. Participates in pharmacy orientations, training programs and staff meetings.
  • Participates in appropriate role in Monadnock Community Hospital disasters, fire drills, fires and other emergency situations.
  • Exercises care in the operation and use of Monadnock Community Hospital equipment and reference materials. Performs routine cleaning and preventative maintenance to ensure continuing functioning of equipment. Maintains work area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or directed.
