Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Pharmacist in Charge, the Pharmacy Technician will provide technical assistance in the dispensing of prescribed medications and pharmaceutical preparations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative Functions:
* Retrieves and delivers inpatient medications orders and supplies.
* Prepares unit-dose medications specific to patient needs including patient's weight, allergies, and age (pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adults, and geriatric).
* Performs medications order entry into the pharmacy computer system.
* Assists pharmacists in filling ambulatory prescriptions specific to patient needs including patient's weight, allergies, and age (pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
* Assists in record keeping activities in any assigned area.
* Maintains adequate drug inventories in pharmacy areas and patient care areas.
* Compounds bulk and extemporaneous pharmaceuticals specific to patients needs including weight and age (pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
* Performs automated compounding repackaging and cart-fill.
* Prepares sterile products utilizing aseptic technique.
* Communicates effectively with other pharmacy employees, healthcare professionals, and patients while appropriately recognizing age (pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
* Maintains a neat clean and organized work area.
* Demonstrates flexibility in staffing assignments.
* Adheres to internal controls established for department.
* Performs other related duties as requested.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
* High school diploma or GED
* California State Board of Pharmacy Registration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Effective interpersonal skills.
* Bilingual in Spanish/English
Additional Requirements: (Licenses/Certifications)
* All staff that is presently working within a clinic is required to have a Current and Valid CPR and First Aide certification on file with the Human Resources Department. This is for clinical and administrative staff. This new license requirement is mandatory for continued employment, CPR and First Aide certification must be obtained through the American Heart Association. Internet certificates do not comply and for this reason are not valid.
* PTCB certification within 18 months of employment.
