Full-Time and Per-Diem positions available.JOB REQUIREMENTSMinimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.Minimum Work Experience: Previous related experience is preferred.Required Licenses / Certifications: Current BLS certification within 60 days of hire. Certified phlebotomist preferred.Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Clerical skills, computer skills, venipuncture, arterial puncture and heel sticks.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPerforms phlebotomy ( ie, venipuncture, fingerstick, heelstick, arterial puncture, bleeding times. Identifies patients and properly labels specimens tubes and samples. Determines priority of stat draws. Ensures the timely collection and transport of all patient specimens to the lab for testing. Updates, collates, and files admission/discharge/transfer, patient orders, and results for transfer to medical records. Records daily temperatures as directed by manager. Performs EKG analysis on in-patients, out patients. Records reference lab send outs and other statistical reports as directed by the laboratory manager. Daily restocking of all phlebotomy supplies. Orders general supplies from Central supply. Daily routine cleaning and maintaining of laboratory neatness. Act as receptionist, greet patients, and answer all incoming telephone calls. Attend and stay current with all safety/fire/infection control training programs. Follow the hospital exposure control plan/bloodborne and airborne exposure plans. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, staff, families, visitors and acts in a professional manner at all times. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department unit team. Promotes effective working relationships with employees of all other departments.
