Job Description
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
* Initiate and drive scientific research projects to fuel growth in photonic technologies.
* Apply scientific principles to develop potential inventions and products in photonics.
* Create vision and value propositions, align strategy, and manage fast-paced R&D to meet timelines.
* Develop solutions for core optical devices and circuits, including transmission, fault management, performance monitoring, physical design, and user interfaces.
* Conduct theoretical studies, model device performance, design devices, and collaborate with process engineers on fabrication.
* Model active and passive photonic components, including optical mode propagation, high-frequency modulation, and laser dynamics.
* Research technological trends and foster partnerships with industry, academia, and standards bodies.
* Disseminate research results through publications, patents, talks, and outreach efforts.
* Define boundaries and create proof-of-concepts or prototypes, including test chips and competitive analysis.
* Collaborate with engineering design teams to determine product requirements and assess new technology adoption.
* Recommend features and influence future product roadmaps.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum education requirements and minimum required qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Relevant experience can be obtained through schoolwork, classes, project work, internships, and/or military experience. Additional preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Master's Degree with 3+ years of experience, or Ph.D. with 1+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering or a related industry research group.
* Minimum 2 Publications in top-tier circuit conferences and journals.
* Research expertise in low-power analog and/or mixed-signal circuits, deep sub-micron CMOS chip design, multi-gigabit I/O circuit design, and photonics circuit design and test.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Knowledge of photonic device fundamentals and optical fiber termination and packaging
