Position Overview:We are seeking a Physical Therapist to join a premier health organization in Elmira, NY. In this role, you'll plan and implement individualized treatment programs for outpatient rehab patients, working closely with an interdisciplinary team to provide exceptional care. As a Staff Physical Therapist, you will report to the Clinical Coordinator of Rehab Services.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess and evaluate patients' physical conditions, developing personalized treatment plans with corrective exercises, gait training, and use of therapeutic equipment.
- Conduct various treatments, including ultrasound, hot/cold packs, electrical stimulation, and traction, while educating patients on using wheelchairs, braces, and other mobility aids.
- Document patient evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with departmental standards.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure cohesive patient care.
- Provide guidance to support staff assisting in patient care.
- Adhere to and maintain safety and infection control standards, including proper equipment handling and use of personal protective equipment.
- Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and educational programs for professional development.
- Assist with the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies, as well as occasional patient transport if necessary.
- Provide age-appropriate care for neonates, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Qualifications:- Education: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physical Therapist in New York State at the time of hire.
- Experience: Hospital experience preferred.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift at least 30 pounds independently and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
