In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.What you will be doingPhysician AssistantPer-DiemResponsibilities:
  • Participates in daily patient rounds for patients on the Perioperative Pain Service.
  • Performs preoperative consults on patients with chronic pain conditions, including long-term opioid use or history of substance use disorder
  • Provides health care, teaching, counseling and treatment to patients, including assessments of patients' medical, pharmacological and psychosocial needs.
  • Monitors and evaluates the patient's treatment and health care plan for effectiveness and modifies as necessary.
  • Coordinates admission and discharge for pain management inpatients, including obtaining relevant information regarding medication and ensuring that appropriate discharge prescriptions and follow up appointments are made.
  • Assists the supervising physician in coordinating management plan.
  • Documents all assessments, findings, progress and care provided in the electronic medical record.
  • Refers relevant clinical issues to the supervising physician.
  • Works collaboratively with all nursing and hospital staff and other hospital staff as required.
  • Educates nursing staff on uses related to pain management, including distribution of articles and education materials of interest.
  • Adheres to all practice standards outlined by Hospital Administration and governing regulatory bodies.
Department Requirements:
  • Displays a positive attitude toward work assignments, performance feedback, and interactions with co-workers, patients, families, and visitors.
  • Willingly adheres to Department and Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Maintains computer literacy, including proficiency in Outlook email and E-learning.
  • Attends Department meetings regularly and punctually.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Physician Assistant Training Program
  • Current New York State registration
  • BLS certification
  • Current NCCPA and PANRE Certificate and continuing education and timely recertification as required
  • Current Infection Control Certificate
  • Prior pain management experience preferred
Working Conditions: Physical RequirementsPhysical: Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight. Environmental: Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature, and noise.
