The Communications Specialist will strengthen our agency's brand, raise awareness and share positive stories about our services and contributions. The Communications Specialist will help share mission-critical information with both external and internal audiences.** This is a part time position with a schedule of 20 hours per week**RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops, writes and edits material for District publications, brochures, fact sheets, online products, and any other medium needed.
  • Ensures consistent voice and messaging for District leaders in alignment with agencywide communications standards.
  • Maintains and updates District sections of agency website and Intranet site, and refreshes social media channels with current, engaging and relevant information.
  • Stays informed about local LCSNW programs and helps educate the community through public information and outreach campaigns.
  • Supports internal communications to District staff, including writing, editing and formatting management communications.
  • Generates positive press coverage and handles local media inquiries.
  • Supports Shared Services leaders with communications needs.
  • Responds to emails and other inquiries in a timely manner.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum two years of communications, public relations, outreach or related experience with a nonprofit, business, government entity, media outlet, or agency.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism communications, marketing or related field; substantial relevant experience will be considered in place of degree.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Minimum to intermediate mastery of business applications and productivity suites. Microsoft Suite skills, Photography, Photoshop, video, graphics, and WordPress skills are preferred.

  • Moves equipment/materials weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally travels between worksites. Works in a variety of settings, including and not limited to LCSNW office locations, partner agency and community-based settings, and faith-based settings such as churches.
  • Meets LCSNW criminal background clearance requirements and other job-relevant clearances as required by the State or program.
ROLES:Role-specific expectations for this job are outlined as follows:
  • LCSNW Team Member. All LCSNW team members are responsible for upholding and encouraging LCSNW values: compassion, integrity, interdependence, inclusion and stewardship; communicating openly and effectively; building collaborative; and strictly adhering to confidentiality and HIPAA standards.
  • Communications Team Member. All Communication Specialists are expected to work well independently and meet the expectations of an off-site supervisor. (This position is a hardline report to the Director of Communications.) Each team member must collaborate effectively with Communication Specialists in other LCSNW Districts.
  • District Team Member. All Communications Specialists are expected to understand and respect the workplace standards/culture of the District where they are based. (This position is a dotted-line report to the District Director.)
