My client is a Water / Wastewater general contractor that works in the Atlanta markets and they are looking for a Pipe Foreman for their Atlanta location in Georgia.Position DescriptionCandidates for the Pipe Foreman position should have the skills and knowledge to perform the following:Work Responsibilities:Planning, reading and preparation of daily work activities with the project superintendent. Maintain oversight of all pipe laying operations and mechanical equipment installations. Communicate effectively with onsite subcontractors and owner's personnel. The foreman must make sure that their project runs smoothly throughout the work day. They must create daily an efficient working environment, keep production costs low, remain on schedule and help maintain employee morale. Prepare and submit daily foreman reports to the overall project superintendent. These reports should document work activities, work conditions, material and equipment needs and performance of subcontractors.Safety:The foreman first and foremost must maintain safe working conditions on the jobsite or sites. The foreman must monitor, coach and correct employees to ensure they are compliant with both federal & state safety mandates and safety regulations established by the company's safety program. The foreman must verify workers are using provided safety gear and inspect the jobsite to identify and correct possible safety hazards. Report any safety concerns to the project superintendent.Experience and requirements:Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in Industrial or Utility Water & Wastewater / Pipe Facility construction. Power plant work and factory shut down work experience is acceptable. Must be able to read blue prints & approved submittal documents. Able to read and interpret process equipment installation manuals. Must have lead crews and supervised multi-crew members. Must have hand on experience with equipment installations; such as, clarifiers, diffused aeration, submersible pumps, vertical turbine pumps, sluice & slide gates, UV disinfection, grit removal equipment, and chemical feed equipment. Experience in welding steel boiler and heat exchanger piping, process air stainless steel piping, and bolting of flanged ductile iron piping is much needed.Working conditions:Pipe foreman work on a job site outdoors & indoors in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat, cold and precipitation. The work may be labor-intensive as treatment plant construction typically involves rigging, lifting and positioning of large pipe sections, large pieces of machinery and equipment along with manual cutting of pipe sections, tightening bolting systems and mechanical connection of various fitting types and equipment types. Climbing in and out of excavations, trench shoring devices, process tankage, elevated platforms, etc., is a regular daily routine and expectation.Education:A college degree is not required; however, a high school diploma is and treatment plant construction experience is required.
